Meet the CLTCEC Staff

Corinne Eldridge

Executive Director

An accomplished leader with over 20 years of management experience including 14 years in the long-term care field, Corinne leads the strategic work of CLTCEC. Since joining as Executive Director in 2013, Corinne has reimagined the mission, vision, and values of CLTCEC to ensure that workers are prepared to meet the growing demands of long-term care.

As a subject matter expert, Corinne has spoken to the value brought to the health care system by training nursing home workers and MediCal funded In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) home care providers at the American Society on Aging annual conference, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), and the California Future Healthcare Workforce Commission. She has successfully led CLTCEC to train over 8,000 IHSS providers, with funding primarily from a Health Care Innovation Award from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Innovation (CMMI). This project produced the first study to find that training home care workers is associated with both better health outcomes and cost savings.

In 2017 Corinne established two innovative funding partnerships with Health Net and L.A. Care Health Plan to provide training for IHSS home care providers in Los Angeles. She also serves on the Advisory Committee for UCLA’s Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (UCLA GWEP) and on the Healthcare Career Advancement Program (H-CAP) Executive Advisory Board.

Corinne is a graduate of California State University-Los Angeles and worked in entertainment prior to joining the labor movement to work on behalf of nursing home workers and their residents. Corinne’s dedication to improving the long-term care system through education was inspired by seeing the challenges women in her family experienced as caregivers and the impact quality care can have on seniors’ life spans and quality of life. Married for nearly 10 years and a mother to two young girls, Corinne practices yoga and is inspired by the outdoors.

Susie Yu

Director of Home Care Programs

Susie brings 13 years of experience in program development, partner relations, and marketing to her role as CLTCEC’s Director of Home Care Programs. She previously served as Director for the COPE Health Scholar program, a healthcare experiential education program with over 4,200 students. At COPE, Susie worked closely with the CEO to develop new initiatives for strategic growth and was responsible for specialized programs that built on COPE’s Health Scholar training.

Susie holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UC San Diego. Her language skills include fluency in Korean and basic proficiency in Spanish and French.

“I believe education is a powerful tool for empowerment,” Susie says. “Through CLTCEC’s training program for home care workers, I hope we can improve the quality of life for both providers and consumers.”

Syuzanna Petrosyan

Education Fund Program Director

Syuzanna has dedicated her career to advancing health education, with a focus on culturally competent and linguistically diverse approaches that meet the needs of underserved communities. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and her Master of Public Health at California State University, Northridge. While in her master’s program, Syuzanna spent a year as a home care provider through the In-Home Support Services (IHSS) program, which gave her real-life experience and insight into the challenges faced by caregivers. She is fluent in Armenian, which has been invaluable as she serves multilingual communities.

Syuzanna joined the CLTCEC in 2015 as a Program Coordinator and today she is the Director of Programs for the CLTCEC’s Nursing Home Education Fund. She leads a statewide team dedicated to improving educational opportunities for certified nurse assistants and other nursing home workers as well as increasing the pool of skilled health workers to meet the needs of a rapidly growing senior population.

Marianne Lyons, Director of Finance & Operations, CLTCEC

Marianne Lyons

Director of Finance & Operations

A transplant from the East Coast, Marianne brings over 28 years of experience as the Finance Manager for the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury, Inc., an organization that offers free services to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. At the Women’s Center she held responsibility for finance management, human resources, and operations. Marianne has also held finance positions at Verbum Dei High School in Watts and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in Burbank.

Marianne’s volunteer experience includes serving as a working board member as Treasurer, assisting the management team at her 72 unit condominium association maintaining the residential community, along with overseeing major renovation projects.
Marianne went back to school later in life, attending classes full time while working. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University in 2007 and her M.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management from Walden University in 2010.

Kenneth Stollenwerk

Application Development Manager

Since joining CLTCEC as Application Development Manager in 2013, Ken has transformed our data systems, developed multiple software applications including an online class course platform, and greatly improved the organization’s efficiency overall.

Ken has over 20 years of experience in the production and direction of front end, middleware, and back end applications and services with an emphasis on hosted administration systems and multimedia presentations. Previously Ken served as Senior Technologist and Vimation and Senior Web & Media Developer at Virtual Image Consulting.

When not building applications at CLTCEC, Ken is an avid musician.

Jasmine Basulto

Operations Coordinator

Jasmine brings exceptional organizational skills to CLTCEC, supporting our Executive and Operations Directors across a wide range of functions, including human resources, logistics, and finance. Before joining the CLTCEC, Jasmine spent 11 years with AT&T Mobility, where she was promoted from Lead Sales Consultant to Operations and Assistant Store Manager. Her responsibilities included providing sales staff with coaching and training, as well as a wide variety of operational functions including data analysis and reporting to budget monitoring and policy compliance.

“As much as I enjoyed my time with the private sector, I always felt hollow and like I had betrayed my calling,” Jasmine says. “I was very excited when I found the opportunity at CLTCEC. I feel fortunate to be able to finally use my skills with an organization that truly makes a difference.”

She holds a bachelor’s in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Interpersonal and Organizational Structures, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from California State University Long Beach.

MIchelle Bell-Blossom


Michelle's adjunct professorships and related faculty roles represent more than a decade of commitment to Sociology, Disability Student Services, and African-American Studies. She has taught at the Los Angeles Valley College, El Camino College Compton Center, Victor Valley College, California State University, Northridge, and other southland institutions. Curriculum development projects include her course ``Sociology of Gender and Sexuality`` for Antelope Valley College.

As an advocate for youth dance training in underserved communities, Michelle has conducted presentations and workshops on the topic while also serving as the Executive Director of The Dance Connection Dance Academy in Los Angeles. She has received multiple foundational grants and performing arts awards, and is twice the recipient of the EOPS CARE and CalWORKS Outstanding Teachers Award.

Michelle received her M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from California State University, Northridge. She has followed up her emphasis in Sociology and Pan-African Studies with a range of professional development opportunities and certifications. These have focused on student success outcomes, such as SLO and PLO Assessment, National Response Framework and Incident Management, and more.

Antonio Borras


Antonio is a physician with a lifelong commitment to improving the health of families and communities. He grew up in Cuba, where he earned his medical doctorate with a specialty in family medicine and OB/Gyn from Universidad de Ciencias Medicas de Santiago de Cuba. He emigrated to the US in 2011, where he has dedicated himself to medical education.

“As an instructor for the CLTCEC, I am gratified to work with IHSS providers,” Antonio says. They have a tremendous responsibility as a member of the consumer’s healthcare team. For example, properly administering medications is critically important to the health and well-being of the care recipients. It is also important for providers to understand when it is appropriate to seek out emergency care in order to reduce the burden on the healthcare system and reduce
hospitalizations. Through my work, I am helping to improve healthcare quality throughout the community.”

Naira Charchyan


Naira is a registered nurse with expertise in promoting quality, patient-centered care and a passion to serve her community. She earned her bachelor’s in nursing from West Coast University and has certifications in CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Naira has held positions as an RN and case manager at a number of healthcare providers in Los Angeles County, including Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente and Providence Tarzana Medical Center. Naira is fluent in Armenian and Russian, which is an invaluable asset to the CLTCEC.

Charles Chuang


Charles is fluent in English, Spanish, Mandarin and Taiwanese, which has been an invaluable resource given the diversity of the CLTCEC’s students. Like several of our instructors, Charles has a background in medicine and healthcare administration. He earned his medical degree at Autonomous University of Central America, San Jose, Costa Rica and his Master of Health Administration at the University of Southern California.

He has spent most of his career in the elder care industry. Before joining the CLTCEC, Charles worked at and adult day health center/community-based adult services program where he supervised a multidisciplinary team to serve the Asian community.

Andrea Garcia

Program Assistant

Andrea provides key administrative support for our IHSS provider students, class instructors, and the entire Home Care Program team. She works closely with program management to ensure staff compliance with requirements such as activity and expense reports and maintains efficient data management systems across multiple departments.

Prior to joining CLTCEC, Andrea worked as an Office and Teacher’s Assistant at Emerson Community Charter School. Her responsibilities there included assisting with daily lesson plans and serving as an interpreter for Spanish speaking students. She previously served as an Administrative Staff member at the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) Management Office.

Andrea earned her B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology from UCLA in 2017.

Julia Alicia Hernandez

Education Fund Field Coordinator

Julia has demonstrated a deep commitment to empowering low-wage workers, communities of color and women in the workplace. As a student at San Francisco State University, Julia worked as a Grassroots Organizer for the Bay Area Restaurant Workers’ Movement and interned with Women’s Building, assisting migrant women with writing resumes, job applications and interview coaching. After graduating with dual bachelor’s degrees in Labor and Employment Studies and Latino/a Studies, Julia worked as an organizer for UNITE HERE, a labor organization representing hotel workers. In her current position as a Field Coordinator for the Education Fund, Julia engages Certified Nurse Assistants and other nursing home workers to take advantage of training benefits available to them as members of SEIU Local 2015.

Anna Kasumyan

Field Coordinator

Anna has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to serving her community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and began her career as a case manager for YouthBuild Charter School, which serves teens and young adults from low-income families and underserved communities. She subsequently served as a social worker for a home health agency and has since held a variety of positions related to elder care. Anna is fluent in Armenian and Russian, skills that are invaluable as she works with the multilingual population of caregivers served by the CLTCEC.

Isabel C. Menjivar

Field Coordinator

Isabel’s work with the CLTCEC is deeply informed by her personal experiences as an IHSS provider caring for her son. As a field coordinator, she uses her bilingual skills in English and Spanish to enroll IHSS providers in the CLTCEC’s education programs. Her previous experience includes working as a teacher assistant at Bell Gardens Junior High School and as a real estate assistant with Century 21.

“It is the most gratifying for me when I am able to share this program with a provider who can
then take better care of their consumer,” Isabel says. “It also means a lot to me when the providers graduate the course and are so grateful for the opportunity they had with CLTCEC.”

Adi Quezada

Education Fund Field Coordinator

Adi has a long-standing commitment to delivering culturally competent education in a variety of settings.

She holds a certificate in Early Childhood Education and worked as a teacher aide for an elementary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District prior to joining the CLTCEC.

Early in her career, Adi worked as a material handler for a healthcare equipment and supplies company. It was here that she developed the administrative skills that are invaluable in her current role.

Adi’s work is strongly influenced by her deep faith. She is dedicated to developing and maintaining productive relationships with program partners, including nursing home supervisors, nursing home staff, and education providers. Her fluency in Spanish enables her to engage with nursing home staff from underserved populations.

Soo Young Park


Soo Young has over seven years of work experience as a RN and 10 years of experience as an IHSS homecare worker for a developmentally disabled family member.

She has held nursing positions at Davita / Montebello, Pioneer Region, Sanctuary Hospice in Downey, and Fresenius Medical Center in Los Angeles.

At CLTCEC she previously served for three years as the lead instructor for CLTCEC’s 17 week classes class, teaching classes in Korean as well as supervising and coaching instructors.

She holds an associate’s degree in nursing from Los Angeles City College, and a bachelor of arts in English Education from Ewha Woman’s University, Seoul, South Korea.

As the parent of and primary caregiver for a child with autism, she is certified in Behavior Therapy, Floor-time Therapy, Social & Play Therapy. She served as a volunteer as an RN at Young Nak Presbyterian Church and as President of Andy Lim Autism Foundation, Inc.

Juvenal Mauricio

Field Coordinator

As a Field Coordinator for CLTCEC, Juvenal has a deep interest in education and social justice. He is extremely passionate about serving underrepresented communities.

Juvenal is responsible for performing recruitment and class coordination for CLTCEC’s educational programs. Juvenal’s experience in recruitment management informs his work as a Field Coordinator. Before joining CLTCEC, he was a proud member of the IBEW Local 47 labor union. He has previously worked as a Relationship Manager for Bank of America, and prior to that was a Legal Assistant for a business law firm in the Bay Area, where he was responsible for deepening client relationships and managing business records.

He earned his degree in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley. Juvenal is also a proud member of Gamma Zeta Alpha Inc. and is a lifelong Dodger fan.

Karine Torossian


Karine has served as an instructor with CLTCEC since 2014. She brings a wealth of clinical experience as an RN at facilities including Olive View UCLA Medical Center, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, Glendale Community College, and Family Care ADHC. Her teaching experience include serving as preceptor to college students. She has volunteered for nearly ten years at the Glendale Community Free Health Clinic, providing medical assistant services. Karine earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University, where she graduated cum laude. As lifelong learner, she plans to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN/FNP) program.

Sandra Rodriguez

Education Fund Senior Organizer

As a senior organizer for the CLTCEC’s education fund, Sandra is responsible for connecting certified nurse assistants and other nursing home workers with training and development opportunities. She has spent her career in advocacy on behalf of disabled communities and underrepresented populations. Sandra’s previous positions include working as a behaviorist for children with autism, as a community outreach specialist for a federally qualified health center (FQHC), and as a labor organizer.

Sandra earned her bachelor’s degree at California State University-Northridge and her Master of Social Work at the University of Southern California.

Data Management Coordinator

Marlene joined the CLTCEC in 2013 as a program assistant and has since assumed positions of increasing responsibility. In her current position as a Data Management Coordinator, Marlene maintains the CLTCEC’s database. This includes collecting, importing, analyzing and reporting program data, as well as collaborating with program staff to use data to meet program goals.Her previous experience includes a position as a data coordinator with Miller Kaplan Arase, an international full-service accounting firm, focusing on the radio, newspaper, and television industries. Marlene studied at Mount St. Mary’s University with a concentration in Gerontology.

“I am inspired by the commitment of the students and the staff who advocate for education and who work hard every day to add value to the long-term care workforce,” Marlene says. “I am proud to be part of the data team.”

Pia Orense

Communications Manager

Pia Orense brings her passion for storytelling as a tool for advocacy to her role as CLTCEC’s Communications Manager. “These caregivers have powerful stories to tell — stories that will hopefully inspire fellow caregivers to improve their skills, raise awareness of their challenges and successes, and show the health community how critical these men and women are to a patient’s journey to wellness,” she says.

Pia previously served as assistant director of communications and marketing at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles, where she received her bachelor’s degree in English and is currently finishing a master’s degree in humanities.

Prior to her time in higher education, Pia worked in the newspaper industry. She began her journalism career as a freelance writer and through the years advanced to the position of editor in charge of community weeklies, a lifestyle magazine, and custom publications.

Muzill Sanders

HR Manager

Muzill's diverse HR experience spans over 15+ years administering recruitment, employee relations, succession planning, training/development, compliance, and policy development with both non-profits and for-profit organizations. Muzill received his Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Development and then graduated with his Masters of Science in Human Resources Administration from Central Michigan University. Prior to working at CLTCEC, Muzill was the Director of Human Resources at Alternatives for Girls in Detroit, MI, worked at S&P Data in Troy, MI and Mercedes-Benz of St. Clair Shores as HR Operations Manager. Other nonprofits/for-profits consists of: American Red Cross, The Children's Center of Wayne County, and Comcast. Muzill has relocated from Detroit, Michigan to Los Angeles, California to become our Human Resources Manager at CLTCEC and enjoys CLTCEC's mission, values and strategic plan for the future in education awareness.

Lauren Suarez

Operations Coordinator

Lauren provides administrative and operations support to our HR and Finance Departments. She creates and maintains data systems for tracking operational procedures including expense report filings, check requests, and general operational procedures.

A second generation Mexican-American, Lauren believes deeply in social justice and equality, the value of individuals and their incredible capacity to impact the lives of others. “The home care and nursing fields touch the hearts of many but I feel they are not recognized for the amount of dedication and passion they require. I wanted to be a part of an organization that recognizes these individuals and creates a goal oriented plan to advance their skillsets. I think CLTCEC is an amazing organization that gives individuals the opportunity to provide and receive high quality care.”

Lauren previously worked as an Administrative Coordinator and Scheduler for the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Inc. in Los Angeles, overseeing schedules for 26 clients and 21 therapists. Previously, she was a Data Entry Clerk for Legends Hospitality, LLC in Los Angeles where she prepared and processed money for banking and redistribution for three departments.

Lauren earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from the California State University, Long Beach.

Jim Mangia

Board Chair

Jim Mangia is the President and CEO of St. John’s Well Child and Family Center, a network of 16 nonprofit federally qualified health centers and two mobile clinics providing free and low-cost medical, dental and mental health services to more than 375,000 patient visits in downtown, South Los Angeles, Compton and Lynwood. Passionate about community health, prevention and social justice, Mangia built the Well Child and Family Centers from a small single-site clinic serving 1200 patients a year to one of L.A. County’s largest nonprofit health care with over 700 employees and a 85 million dollar budget; St. John’s is now the largest primary care provider in the largest area of contiguous poverty (south Los Angeles) in the United States.

Under Mangia’s leadership, St. John’s has opened six school based health centers (SBHCs). St. John’s is the exclusive school based health provider for Compton Unified School District and operates five SBHCs with Los Angeles Unified School District, with plans to open three more. As well, St. John’s is the only federally qualified health center to operate community college-based school based health centers – at Trade Tech College and Compton College.

Appointed by Governor Brown in 2012, Mangia serves as a State Commissioner on the State of California Workforce Investment Board and served as an Expert Advisor to the Let’s Get Healthy California Task Force. He serves on the Los Angeles County Community Prevention and Population Health Task Force for the County of Los Angeles Public Health Agency. He served as Chair of the Public Health & Prevention Task Force for the California Primary Care Organization in 2013-14. Mangia served on the Board of Governors of LA Care Health Plan (the largest Medicaid health plan in the country) from 2008-2012. He served as a member of President Obama’s Health Advisory Task Force in 2008 and served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County from 2010-2012. .

Mangia has built St. John’s as an organization that not only provides health care services, but engages social determinants of health, impacts social policy, builds direct patient advocacy organizations in the communities it serves, provides direct access to health for undocumented immigrants and homeless individuals and families, fights for social justice and battles poverty.

Mangia has testified before congressional committees, the California state legislature and the Los Angeles city council about environmental health issues effecting L.A.’s children, the critical role of prevention in community health, health disparities and the right to health. He has received the Certificate of Congressional Recognition, special recognition in the U.S. Congressional Record, and numerous commendations for his work by city, county and state legislative bodies.

Kim Evon


As the Executive Vice President of SEIU Local 2015, which represents long-term care workers, Kim brings a wealth of experience to the CLTCEC board.

Kim strives to empower long-term care workers to make positive changes for themselves, their workplace, and their communities. She believes in the importance of creating a culture where all long term care workers earn a livable wage, are able to access retirement and have a seat at the table in discussions regarding the future of long term care services.

Before serving in her current position as Executive Vice President at SEIU Local 2015, Kim held a variety of roles in SEIU, including Internal and External Organizer for an SEIU local in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Education Coordinator for SEIU International and Deputy Director of the Public Division for SEIU International. She also worked on a project that eventually evolved into SEIU’s Leaders in Action for Justice Committee, which focuses on developing leaders in our organization. As part of her work for the national union, she moved on to become the SEIU Area Director for California, and eventually took on the role of Chief of Staff at ULTCW. In 2013, she was elected as Secretary Treasurer of SEIU ULTCW.

April Verrett

President, SEIU Local 2015

April Verrett serves as President of Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 2015 – the nation’s largest long term care union representing more than 385,000 home care and nursing home workers throughout California. Prior to being President, April served as an Executive Vice President of Local 2015 and was instrumental in its creation when long term care workers throughout California united for greater strength.

Prior to Local 2015, April served as Executive Vice President of SEIU, Healthcare Illinois and Indiana (HCII). HCII is the largest union of healthcare workers in the Midwest, representing 92,000 hospital, nursing home, home care workers and child care providers across Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Kansas.

April is also a Vice President of the SEIU International Executive Board and serves on SEIU’s Racial Justice Center, Organizing Committee, and the Together We Rise Oversight Committee.

As a labor leader and activist, April has spent most of her career helping workers form unions to ensure that their voices are heard and respected. April is a tireless advocate for working people, driven by the belief that “unions give workers a platform to fight for more than wages, benefits and working conditions, but also around everything that matters in our members’ lives and their communities.”
